Our innovative franchise model, which includes a restaurant and women’s shelter, serves as a pillar of change, providing women with economic opportunities, safe spaces and educational resources. The preliminary design, meticulously crafted by students of the esteemed Jomo Kenyatta University in Nairobi, embodies our commitment to sustainability. Drawing inspiration from Kurian art and eco-friendly architecture, and driven by the imperative of community development, the students meticulously ensured that every facet of our social restaurant and shelter harmonizes with the environment.

Women’s rights in Kenya were strengthened by a new constitution in 2010. Nevertheless, domestic violence, genital mutilation and even forced marriages unfortunately still take place in the Kuria society in Migori County.
There is a lack of information and ways out for girls and women. The Jua Hope project targets the basic right of bodily integrity, based on a community approach. It aims at building a women’s shelter that is not only a refuge for girls and women in danger but also a meeting point for community discussions. It further aims to strengthen women empowerment by financial independence.

The Jua Hope project targets the basic right of bodily integrity, based on a community approach. A house that is a refuge in danger as well as a focal point for administration and counselling. The women’s shelter will be ecologically designed and based on self-sustaining architecture.
